Automotive : Driver Information Systems : Speed sensing

Melexis Hall effect sensors can be used to detect the speed of rotating gears, tone rings or multi-pole magnets for accurate, non-contact speed measurements. Usually this is accomplished in the transmission but it could also be done from wheel speed or axle speed.
