DVK90109 General Description
The development kit DVK90109 has been developed by Melexis to create specific applications using 125 kHz protocols and to evaluate the advantages of the MLX90109 transceiver IC.
The DVK90109 results of the combination of the development board DVKRFID and the evaluation board EVB90109. The EVB90109 is plugged on the DVKRFID through a 10 pins connector (including Coil, VCC and Ground) and controlled by the microcontroller ATMEGA128.
A set of commands has been elaborated by Melexis to define the communication between the Computer and the evaluation board EVB90109.

You can indeed buy on line both the MLX90109 and the MLX90125. But I would recommend you buy the development kit DVK90109 which comes which suitable tags for the MLX90109.

my current task is to make, RFID Reader, for which I need to supply with tag, I need the following inventory:-
50 x Base Station, MLX90109+MLX90125
100 x Read Only Tag - MLX90??? (factory programed ID)
I am planing to purchase the DVK90109 kit, BUT before that I need to make sure I can get the tag's for Melexis of any other supplier.
In this matter, I hope you can recomandand sutiable Read Only Tag for my project.

Mr.Ting, have updated me on this too. I will arrange to get 50 unit of the MLX90109+MLX90125 for melexis,
as for the tag, I visited the www.sokymat.com, they have various type of the tag, could you please advice me which tag(s) will work with 90109+90125
I also will arrange the DVK90109, to speed-up my development.

I baught the EVB90109 and DVK90109.But the distance of communication is very short when I test by using your tag and tool and I must alter the position between the tag and the EVB90109 and put the tag on the EVB9019.

he MLX90124 is only an IC. If you want to source an assembled tag, you need to refer to a tag manufacturer, like Sokymat (www.sokymat.com).
Sokymat manufacturer the tags we provide together with the DVK90109.
The MLX90109 can support the following standards : Unique ID, Hitag 1, 2 and S.

Can I buy MLX90109, MLX90121 chips without DVK in case everything OK and I need to build 100 reader's?
One more question. Can I buy one of DVK that include evaluation board for example DVK90109 and only evaluation board for second frequency?
As I understand development kits are the same and evaluations boards only a difference.

As explained, we prefer when customers start working with the DVKs, even if it is possible to buy from us the EVBs and even samples.
From our experience, DVKs greatly speed up the development cylce at the customer place.
DVKs are not generic: If you buy a DVK90121 and an EVB90109, you will need anyway to change the software of the DVK to turn it into a DVK90109.

I just got the DVK90109. It has power and I think I'm trying to communicate with a functioning COM2 port. It won't respond to even a Version request.
What can I be doing wrong?

At this time, the DVK90109 doesn't allow to download firmware examples. We have to update this feature as soon as possible.

I don't have a DVK90109, I only have the MLX90109 because I have other kits to use as devkits (AT90USBKEY and AVR STK500), but some kind of information on how to actually use the MLX90109 would be nice to have.
